HP Sprocket- Keeps your memories fresh in a printed form!
Instant cameras are quite popular especially amongst the young generation of people who are more inclined towards capturing moments of their lives in a print form. One such instant solution to this is HP’s Sprocket. HP’s Sprocket is a palm-sized printer that lets you print 2x3-inch photos from any of your social media account feeds or even from your cellphone’s photo gallery.
Upon ordering/buying the Sprocket, it comes in a small box, with just a manual, Micro USB- cable and a single packet of 10 ZINK printable sheets. Sprocket is available in three colors- Jet Black, White, and Maroon and its measure dimensions are 116 x 75 x 23mm, weighing 172g, which makes it super light and quite pocketable. One of the other reasons behind it being such a lightweight would be the fact that it is built primarily of plastic and makes it quite sturdy, which makes it a constant travel buddy without any hassle, however, the plastic body is quite susceptible to scratches. The top portion of the Sprocket slides open revealing a space to load the printable sheets. There is also a single slot in the front of the Sprocket body from which processed photos are pushed out.
The HP Sprocket supports Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC (with Android phones) for connectivity and can only be operated through the HP Sprocket app designed for Android or iOS phones which is extremely easy to use.
Charging the Sprocket takes about 90 minutes, after which the LED indicating the status of the battery percentage turn green. The ZINK packet has one additional sheet called a Smartsheet, which is a blue paper with some barcodes on it. This sheet needs to be placed at the bottom while loading the stack of papers into the printer.
The Sprocket app is fairly easy to install and work with as it reads most image formats (JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, PNG, TIFF) from the phone’s gallery and it can also pull images from Google Photos, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. One of the best features of the Sprocket is that it can also take photos directly within the Sprocket app.
The asking price of the HP sprocket is a bit high, resting at Rs. 8,999, but taking into consideration the cost of the printing sheets, it is actually a much more economical option than the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9. Sprocket helps people relive the moments spent with their loved ones by maintaining the quality of the pictures snapped through it for years and years to come.
