Inauguration Of Madhavpur Ghed Fair

President Of India, Ram Nath Kovind has inaugurated a 5-day fair at Madhavpur Ghed village in the city of Gujarat’s Porbandar district recently. This fair is held to celebrate the auspicious wedding of Lord Krishna and Goddess Rukmani at the Madhavpur Ghed, a well-known pilgrimage spot.

Since the year 2018, the Gujarat govt. in association with the Ministry of Culture is celebrating this fair each year to worship the sacred union of Lord Krishna and Rukmini.

Delivering a speech on this occasion, the President gave his greetings to his fellow citizens at the event of Ram Navami.

He also said that Mahatma Gandhi had hoped for the installation of Ram-Rajya in modern India on the models of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram.

Kovind further stated that it was his honour to inaugurate this Madhavpur Ghed fair.

In addition, President Kovind told the folk story of the wedding of Shri Krishna and Rukmini which shows how ancient the cultural unity of India is and how deep are the roots of our social harmony.

According to belief, the land area of Madhavpur Ghed village has been a witness to their union.

The President said that the fair of Madhavpur Gher as well as the many functions organized on the occasion in various temples in the city of Gujarat, and in various places in north-east India. It is really said to be a celebration of India’s spiritual, cultural, and social unity.

He further expressed his happiness that this festival of connecting every people of the whole country on an emotional level is being celebrated with the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. He later said that Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is generally being celebrated with the purpose of strengthening the sense of national pride.
