We have all been waiting for 5G powered smartphones to launch in India for a while now. I can surely speak for myself in this matter. 5G has captured my attention since China and the US witnessed the launch of the same. Even though we know it for a fact that India still needs to get a lot of work done before we can start using a 5G network in the country but that shouldn’t stop companies from launching the phones ahead of time. Owing to that, 5G has been the trend for some time now and every brand has been an active participant in the race of offering the best and the most powerful 5G smartphones to its consumers. Pushing itself ahead of its competitors, Oppo is all set to launch its Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G in India on 18th January. There is no denying the fact that the most dominant feature of this phone is going to be its 5G connectivity and the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor.

Earlier there were just a few rumors regarding the specifications and the features of the Reno 5 Pro 5G phone, however right now we are sure of almost all the features of the phone. Let’s take a look into the same to have a clearer understanding of what to expect from the phone once it’s released.

The phone is to flaunt a 6.55-inch full-HD+ OLED display that has 90Hz refresh rate, 92.1 percent screen-to-body ratio, and 402ppi pixel density. As far as the processor is concerned, it will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC, paired with ARM G77 MC9 GPU and up to 12GB of RAM. It also has up to 256GB onboard storage that cannot be expanded via a microSD card. Now as a personal user of smartphones, I would say based on my usage, 256GB of storage sounds good enough for me so the fact that it cannot be further expanded doesn’t affect me. Additionally, the smartphone supports dual-SIM cards and ships with Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 out of the box. The dual standby feature is definitely a very attractive and one of the most important features of this 5G smartphone.

I like to indulge in a few photography sessions once in a while, however I wouldn’t really call myself a photography enthusiast, even then I like my smartphone to have a decent camera setup and when I went through the camera specs of the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G, it did not disappoint me. The rear camera setup includes a 64-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro shooter with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel portrait shooter. For selfies, there’s a 32-megapixel camera housed in a hole-punch cutout placed at the top left corner of the screen. I would say this is more than a decent camera setup and it would surely impress everyone.

Since the phone will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity chipset, I am sure of the fact that it will be priced really well. Considering how the phone was priced around CNY 3,399 in China, I am hoping the price for the same in India would be around 40k which is very decent for a 5G phone. I am excited for the launch of the phone in India and I am sure it is going to be a good seller and a strong addition to the 5G segment.
