India has enhanced its forest place in the previous decade and ranked 3rd worldwide in an average annual net gain in forest area from the year 2010–2020, the Department of Economic Affairs stated in the annual Economic Survey. Our country India supplemented an average of 2,66,000 hectares of extra forest area per year during the period. First of all,

What is an Economic Survey?

An Economic Survey of India is a yearly financial report that shows the economic development in India over the previous financial year by interpreting and giving detailed statistical data of all the agricultural, sectors-industrial, exports, employment, prices, industrial production, among others.

Further, it is crated in Parliament by the finance minister 1 day ere the Union Budget presentation. Traditionally, the survey is made by the CEA.2.

Now, coming to the report of the year 2022,

The top ten countries account for 66% of the globe’s forest area.

Brazil (59%), Peru (57%), the Democratic Republic of Congo (56%) and the Russia (50%) have half or we can say more of their geographical place under forests.

“Much of India’s enhancement in forest cover from the year 011–21 is attributed to enhancement in very dense forest cover, which rose by approximately 20%,” the DEA said.

Also, the reports said that Social forestry could also purpose an important role in this regard.

Now let us see what is social forestry:

First of all, Social forestry is the administration and creation of forests with afforestation on empty lands to get environmental advantage and rural development.

To provide more information, the term was initially used by the National Commission on Agriculture, govt. of India, in the year 1976.

It was then that our country India embarked upon a social forestry project with the goal of taking the pressure off the forests and creating use of all unused land.

Providing the additional information, FAO has given out this whole assessment every 5 years since the year 1990. This report as I have mentioned before assesses the state of forests, their state and conditions and administration for all member countries.

As per the FRA 2020, the top 10 countries that have stated the max average annual net gains in a forest area during 2010–2020 are China, Australia, India, Chile, Vietnam, Turkey, the United States, France, Italy and Romania. India accounts for 2% of the aggregate global forest area.
