Is MediaTek a Good Processor?

We need to steer clear of one opinion that many people share. The brand name is not the guarantee that it would offer good processors at all times. The brand name of the manufacturer is not enough to be sure of its performance. To guarantee a powerful and reliable performance of a chipset, it is important to take a look into the properties and features of the chipset in question rather than just relying on the brand name of the chipset and the smartphone.

In recent times, when we talk of chipsets, the first two names that come to mind are MediaTek and Snapdragon. The comparison between these two have been going on since forever now and both MediaTek and Qualcomm brands have been on a spree to offer the best of chipsets for the users. Snapdragon enjoyed a monopoly over the smartphone segment however that changed with the entry of MediaTek chipsets. Similarly, MediaTek and Kirin have been doing exceptionally well in almost all the segments while Snapdragon seems to be lagging behind in a few. Over the years, Qualcomm Snapdragon has lost its ground and position especially in the budget as well as mid-range segment.

In the recent times, many brands have been opting for MediaTek processors and there are good reasons behind doing so. The reasons emerge from how both the manufacturers have been playing in each segments. Snapdragon was never really able to cater to its consumers in the affordable range because of its high manufacturing cost. MediaTek, on the other hand, was able to provide reliable and strong features to its users at a budget price point. This, in my opinion, is a huge plus for the brand because it shows the accessibility of high-end features for consumers with financial constraints.

This also brings in the debate of “Which chipset is better MediaTek vs Snapdragon” or the ever going debate of “MediaTek vs Snapdragon”. As mentioned, there are several factors that play important part in this debate and that helps in forming an informed idea of which one’s better or which one comes with an edge over the rest.

The best part of MediaTek chipset is the fact that one does not need to burn a hole in their pockets to be able to afford a chipset that would deliver top notch performance and reliability. Snapdragon has been shifting their focus more on offering flagship smartphones rather than budget or even mid-range smartphones.

The same is the case with the 5G segment. MediaTek Dimensity 600, Dimensity 700 and Dimensity 800 5G chipsets are all aimed towards mid-range smartphones and these are extremely powerful against their Snapdragon counterparts. MediaTek chipsets would have a lot of advantages over Snapdragon chipsets in the upcoming future.

MediaTek definitely offers good and powerful chipsets that are not only just powerful but also efficient and also affordable at the same time.
