Let’s bid MediaTek Dimensity 1200 against Snapdragon 870 chipset

Whenever we have new chipsets launched, there are always other chipsets waiting to be compared. The frequent comparisons between chipsets are a good thing in my opinion. It helps users make an informed decision about which smartphone is worth the price. Before we make comparisons between the two chipsets, let’s take a look into the properties of these chipsets individually first.

Having looked at the properties of both the features, it is clear that individually both the chipsets are extremely powerful, and one can expect top notch performance from both the chipsets. However, there are a few differences that would place one higher than the other by a few notches. Starting from the manufacturing process of both the chipsets, MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is a 6nm chipset while the Snapdragon 870 is a 7nm chipset. Although the difference is just of 1nm, this still brings in a difference in the aspect of performance. With the Dimensity 1200, one can expect a much faster and smoother performance compared to its Snapdragon counterpart.
Talking about the SD 870, the SoC doesn’t have anything new and shares almost everything similar to the [previous Snapdragon 865 Plus and hence the fabrication is also the same i.e. 7nm N7P from TSMC.]
MediaTek Dimensity 1200 comes with an integrated 5G modem which again bids it higher in power compared to its Snapdragon counterpart since Snapdragon 870 comes with no integrated modem. Therefore, a much better connectivity rate can be expected from the Dimensity chipset.
Bottomline, MediaTek has always been about bringing powerful and affordable chipsets to its users and it has continued the trend with its 5G chipsets as well. And here, it has an edge over its Snapdragon rival in that aspect too.
