PM Modi Inaugurated Akshaya Patra’s Midday Meal Kitchen
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Akshaya Patra mid-day meal kitchen at the LT College in Varanasi which can provide as many as 1 lakh learners. This was Prime Minister’s 1st visit to his constituency after the BJP won the UP Assembly election.
The event was organised by the Akshaya Patra Foundation, which also operates 1 of the world’s most extensive school feeding programmes in partnership with the government’s (PM POSHAN) Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman scheme.
PM also travelled the facility and checked the everyday food production methods including procedures for hygiene maintenance and increase scale. He also spent time with students. Talking on another occasion later, PM Modi stated: “I had the opportunity of inaugurating a centralized kitchen for the mid-day meal scheme (PM Poshan) today. There during the ceremony, I had the privilege of interacting with a few 10 and 12-year-old children from a government school in my city Varanasi.”
As part of his visit, Modi is slated to establish and lay the foundation stone for development assignments worth Rs 1,774 crore concentrated on enhancing infrastructure and comfort of living, media said.
At the event, PM Modi was attended by UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during his stop in Varanasi. They were welcomed by Akshaya Patra Chairman Madhu Pandit Dasa and its Vice-Chairman Chanchalapathi Dasa.
Speaking on the significant role mid-day meals play in the development of youthful children, Dasa said the kitchen was another branch in our work to finish childhood hunger and manage the problem of malnutrition in children. “Such collaborative efforts will take us closer to our mission to ensure a world where children do not have to choose between education and food,” he said.
This is a nice step by the government.
