The Udaan project was launched by the Rajasthan govt. in collab with a development group ‘IPE Global’. Under this scheme, the main focus is being provided on the development of girls. There are so many aspects of it, let us discuss them.

Focus on keeping the girls in school- They have made some attempts to keep girls in school through their enrolment at secondary while making sure that the eligible ones among them also get their scholarships. While creating some awareness about scholarships plans, the programme has mobilised rural communities to sustain girls’ education and facilitate their attendance in schools without a break.

Focus on stopping adolescent pregnancy- This scheme further seeks to decrease pregnancies while adolescence in the state of Rajasthan. It is doing so by leveraging all the current govt. programmes across all the departments of education and health, for scaling them up and managing sustainability. Under this plan, a multi-sectoral method has been taken to stop pregnancy during adolescence, by making awareness about sexual health and other interventions.

Concentrate on in-school adolescent health education- In this scheme (HCD) ‘Human-Centred Design’ method was taken up to recognize many ways to reach out to to-be-adults effectively. Also, for this, teachers must be taking the step up in improving knowledge, attitude, and practices. These all were adopted to make a limited pilot test of the adaptability and feasibility to give information regarding (SRH) Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Concentrate on enhancing contraceptive access- Focus is also provided to prevent adolescent pregnancies in the state and reduce the amount of low birth weight babies born from all teenage mothers. ‘Antara’, a contraceptive that aids in preventing pregnancy for 3 months period for all the females in Rajasthan’s 14 Mission Parivar Districts (MPV) has been rolled out. Also, AntaraRaj, a web app that assists in tracking Antara uptake and reminder has been made by IPE Global. This web-based app has been executed across all areas of Rajasthan. Also, sanitary pads are being given under this. Also, quality family planning services are being provided.

Global’s Project Director, IPE for Udaan, Ashish Mukherjee, stated the scholarships and educational teachings has helped many rural families, sometimes constrained by finances, to sustain their child’s education. “The financial relief they get allows them to use the family income for other essential requirements such as nutritious food and medicines,” he said.

In my opinion, it is a great step taken by the govt. Of Rajasthan. I hope this will get successful.
