As we all know, Grammys has just occurred just a day ago. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed this 64th Grammy event on Sunday, speaking in a pre-recorded video shown at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena just before John Legend performed a great tribute to the war-torn country.

Zelenskyy urged the music industry assembled to “tell our story” of the country facing a humanitarian war since Russia’s invasion in the month of February, this year. In sombre tones, he expressed the devastating influence on life and music.

“The war. What is more opposite to music? The silence ruined cities and killed people. Our children draw swooping rockets, not shooting stars,” said by Zelenskyy. “Over 400 children have been injured and 153 children died. We’ll never see them drawing. Our parents are happy to wake up in the morning. In bomb shelters, but alive. Our loved ones don’t know if we will be together again.” He said.

“Our musicians and industry wear body armour rather than tuxedos. They sing to the wounded in hospitals,” he said. “Even to those who cannot hear them, but their music will breakthrough.”

Further, he added, “Anyway, we are defending our freedom. To live. To love. To sound,”

Zelenskyy finished his speech by listing Ukrainian cities being destroyed by this unwanted war.

“I have a dream of the living, and free. Free like you on the Grammy stage,” he added.

Grammys host anchor Trevor Noah introduced this surprise of Zelenskyy appearance by saying, “Even in the darkest times, music has the power to lift spirits and give you hope for a brighter tomorrow. There’s nobody who could use a little hope right now more than the people of Ukraine.”

Legend then also performed his tribute “Free” onstage, also joined by Ukrainian poet Lyuba Yakimchuk and Mika Newton, a Ukrainian singer who sang a verse in Ukrainian.

We all are hoping that this war between these 2 countries will come to an end soon.
