The year 2020 has given the gift of time to all, provided you look at it that way. Of course it has had many other consequences however for those who had the compliant of never having enough time to do things that made them happy, for instance, cooking (we all know how much we got into cooking since the whole lockdown thing started), spending time with family, or binge-watching our favorite shows or being the first one to watch shows as soon as they were out, and a few of us even made trips during this time.

What I did was scroll through websites and see what places I can visit whenever I have the option of travelling again. Doesn’t sound like much, but I did come across a few places that not many people consider as a travel destination. However, in my opinion, a true traveler whose major interest lies in adventure would definitely want to know about these places. A few weird places across the world that I think everyone should definitely stop by.

Salar De Uyuni — Explore the White Salt Bed

Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? This place is located in Bolivia. It is in Potosí and Oruro departments; this is the world’s largest salt pan and one of the strange places in the world. And when a thin film of water gathers on the surface it is also the world’s largest natural mirror. The best sight of this space can be observed from the central Incahuasi Island. Salar De Uyuni is the remains of a prehistoric lake that dried off and left behind void space of bright-white salt, rock formations, and cacti-islands.

Die Rakotzbrück — The Nature’s Own Ring

This place looks like movies could be shot here. Constructed in the 19th century is famed for its unique construction accuracy, with the bridge and its reflection merging into a complete and perfect stone circle, no matter where you see it from. Spooky! It is in fact one of the weirdest places across the world. This is probably why the bridge is also known as the ‘Devil’s Bridge’. It is located in Germany.

Dead Vlei — The Beautiful Yet Dead Forest

Not a desert fan, but this place looks like it’s worth a visit. The name Deadvlei means ‘dead marsh’ and the place is also known as ‘Dooie Vlei’. It is a sun-blackened dead forest in a white clay pan which is basically a dried oasis. An amazing yet counted as one of the strange places in the world, the lack of water forces the roots of trees to come outside looking for moisture. This desert is located in Namibia.

Underwater Park — Fun Below the Water

This sounds scary to me, but also fun at the same time. One of the most weird places in the world, located in the Green Lake in Tragoess, this is not just a gimmick, but a genuine park that goes underwater during spring. It is considered as one of the most fabulous waters to dive in around Europe due to the rarest natural phenomenon.

Eternal Flame Falls — Nature’s Unique Phenomena

This actually should top the list. The Eternal Flame Falls is one of the most craziest places in the world. However, it is a quaint waterfall located in Shale Creek Preserve, which is a section of Chestnut Ridge Park in Western New York. A small item at the waterfall’s base emits natural gas. Interestingly, it can be lit to produce a flame. This flame is visible all year round. It can be extinguished and must occasionally be re-lit. The flame is fueled by natural gases and burns bright right under a waterfall.

These places top my list of the weirdest places around the globe that in my opinion are worth visiting.
