What is the National Technical Textiles Mission?
You may be heard of the National Technical Textiles Mission. If not, let me clear the concept. The (CCEA) Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has supported the set up of the National Technical Textiles Mission with an ambition to create India a superintendent of technical textiles worldwide.
About Technical Textile Industry
Technical Textiles are textile creations that are fabricated especially for their functionality and operate rather than the aesthetic attraction. This contains functional materials which find application in construction, civil engineering, healthcare, defence, and automobile among other enterprises. The products are split into 12 parts based on their usage.
The Indian Technical Textiles Sector has an (AAGR) Annual Average Growth Rate of 12% which is 3 times the planet average of 4%. The market proportion of the sector in the country India is calculated to be more than $15 Bn (in FY 2018). In addition, with a (CAGR) Compound Annual Growth Rate of 20%, the household market of technical textiles is cast to cross $25 Bn by the year 2021.
To augment the penetration level of technical textiles in our county India while leveraging the impressive growth rate of the field, the Ministry of Textiles has undertaken the National Technical Textiles Mission. The purpose of this mission is to place India as an international leader in Technical Textiles. Also, it reinforces the ‘Make in India’ endeavour glorifying domestic manufacturing of connected machinery and equipment.
The mission will include the following 4 elements:

The National Technical Textiles Mission has assented with an execution period of 4 years beginning from FY 2020–21 till FY 2023–24. The complete outlay of the task is INR 1480 Cr.
Promoting Make in India

- Market growth and promotion
- Global technical collaborations
- Investment promotion
- ‘Make in India’ initiative
All the details of the National Technical Textiles Mission in favour also the ‘Make in India’ initiative by advancing research moves for indigenous growth of types of machinery and process tools for technical textiles. This will facilitate India’s import support and boost the domestic making of capital things in the sector. Hope this mission will work in favour of our country.
